Steve Blumenthal

Founder & CEO

Steve Blumenthal founded CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in 1992 and acts today as Chief Executive Officer. He has been responsible for the company’s growth, development and performance since its inception. Mr. Blumenthal is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and author of CMG’s investment research commentary.

With over 25 years of investment management and industry experience, Mr. Blumenthal is involved in all aspects of professional money management, specializing in tactical strategies. He manages CMG’s High Yield Managed Bond Program, CMG’s flagship strategy. Mr. Blumenthal is the former Chairman and President of NAAIM – The National Association of Active Investment Managers. NAAIM member firms manage in excess of $15 billion.

Prior to founding CMG Capital Management Group, Inc., Mr. Blumenthal was a Vice President of Investments for Prudential Securities and was employed as an institutional and retail investment advisor at Merrill Lynch. Mr. Blumenthal graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University. He is married, has three children and is active in his community coaching youth soccer.

PJ Grzywacz

President, Chief Compliance Officer

PJ Grzywacz joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in 1997 where he currently serves as the  President and is responsible for all aspects of day-to-day operations of CMG.  Mr. Grzywacz has over 15 years of experience in tactical investments and was previously responsible for the firm’s due diligence and investment research process. Prior to heading the firm’s research team, Mr. Grzywacz coordinated administration, accounting and operations for the firm’s alternative asset strategies.  Mr. Grzywacz graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Marketing and a minor in International Affairs. Mr. Grzywacz is also fluent in Polish.

Jason Wilder

Executive Vice President Business Development/Key Accounts

Jason Wilder joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in August 2000 where he acts as the Executive Vice President of Business Development and is responsible for Key Accounts. Mr. Wilder also serves on the board of NAAIM – The National Association of Active Investment Managers.  Prior to joining CMG, Mr. Wilder was an Assistant Limited Partnership Trader with the American Partnership Board. Before this, Mr. Wilder was the Institutional Client Services Manager for Trust Company of America with responsibilities including trading, back office systems and advisor relationships.

Mr. Wilder began his career in the financial services industry at Raymond James and Associates in Clearwater, Florida. In his position as Mutual Fund Reconciliation Specialist, he worked closely with mutual fund companies, transfer agents, wire houses and trust companies in both institutional and retail capacities.  Mr. Wilder is a graduate of Eckerd College, St. Petersburg, Florida, with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Management.  He is married with two children.  Mr. Wilder holds a FINRA Series 66 license.

Michael F. Sciortino, Sr.

Managing Director, Head of Distribution

Michael Sciortino joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in 2012 as Managing Director and Head of Distribution. Mr. Sciortino is responsible for directing the company’s overall marketing and sales strategy by broadening the strategic relationship between CMG and our advisors.

Mr. Sciortino began his career in 1983 as an account executive with EF Hutton where he led the office in opening new account relationships. Following EF Hutton, Mr. Sciortino transitioned into wholesaling with Colonial Investments and Pilgrim Funds, where he was recognized for leading the most improved sales team. He then went on to spend 13 years as Regional VP with OppenheimerFunds. While at Oppenheimer, Mr. Sciortino conducted seminars to assist advisors in building their practices and his territories surpassed the company’s growth rate every year. With his dynamic and uplifting delivery style, Mr. Sciortino was a frequent conference speaker, offering practical solutions for establishing lasting relationships with affluent and high net worth clients.

Before assuming his current role, he spent 9 years in real estate development. With over 29 years of experience, Mr. Sciortino possesses a rare perspective and combination of practical marketing applications in retail, wholesale, traditional and alternative investments. He believes his role today is to help position advisors for success and the growth of their practices through differentiation, continuous improvement, refinement, and implementation of proven time tested systems that produce results. His caring and challenging message to advisors has been described as practical, impactful, easy to understand and hard to forget.

Mr. Sciortino is a graduate of the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He is married to his high school sweetheart and lives in Mandeville, Louisiana. They have three children and one grandchild.  Mr. Sciortino holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.

Andrew Elkin

Chief Operating Officer

Andrew Elkin joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in 2004 and serves as Chief Operating Officer. His primary responsibilities include overseeing all trading, operations, technology and client relations. Mr. Elkin started at CMG as a research analyst focusing on third party manager due diligence. Prior to joining CMG, Mr. Elkin was a marketing coordinator at Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, a Philadelphia-based economic development organization.  Mr. Elkin graduated from Franklin & Marshall College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and Spanish. He is married with one child and is active in the local soccer community.

Michael Hee, FSA, MAAA

Vice President of Research and Investments

Michael Hee, FSA, MAAA, joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in 2009 where he is currently the Head of Due Diligence and Investment Research. His primary responsibilities are to continually improve CMG’s investment strategy offerings as well as all aspects of investment research.  In this role, Mr. Hee monitors and evaluates CMG’s current strategies in addition to performing due diligence on prospective managers and strategies.  Mr. Hee has over 18 years of risk management experience in insurance, finance and business consulting.

Prior to joining CMG, Mr. Hee worked as a consulting actuary providing financial risk management solutions for clients.  Mr. Hee is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.  Mr. Hee graduated with a Master of Science degree in Mathematics from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a concentration in Economics from the University of Delaware.  Mr. Hee is married with three children and is active is his community coaching youth sports.

Richard Shorin

Controller

Richard Shorin joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in 2004 as Controller. Mr. Shorin is currently responsible for all daily financial and tax activities. He also interacts and coordinates projects with various outside professionals.

Before joining CMG, starting in 1994, Mr. Shorin was Controller for US MobilComm, Inc. where he also worked with the FCC and investors on license related matters. For the past 10 years, Mr. Shorin maintained a private tax practice where he represented a diverse range of moderate to complex individual and small business clients. Mr. Shorin started his career at Laventhol & Horwath, which had been the 10th largest accounting firm in the US. He worked in the accounting and auditing department and progressed to tax manager. He continued his experience there as the Controller of all 50 offices, director of tax operations and finally as part of select team to manage the firm’s bankruptcy. Mr. Shorin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Rochester. Additionally, he has a Masters Degree in Taxation from Villanova University. Mr. Shorin is a licensed CPA and Notary.

Nick Dodds

Vice President of Institutional Sales

Nick Dodds joined CMG Capital Management, Inc. in February 2010 where he is currently a Vice President of Institutional Sales. His primary responsibilities are to generate and coordinate new sales opportunities and maintain relationships with current institutional clients in the South region (FL, GA, TN, KY, AL, MS, LA, AR, MO, NE, KS, OK, TX).  Prior to working as  Vice President of Institutional Sales, Mr. Dodds acted as an Internal Sales Associate and Marketing Coordinator.  Mr. Dodds came through the CMG Internship Program in 2007.

Mr. Dodds graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship from the University of Miami in two and half years. In his time at Miami, Mr. Dodds participated in University of Virginia’s Semester at Sea program where he visited eight countries in Europe and Africa along the Mediterranean Sea. Mr. Dodds is active in the local soccer community as a head coach for the Lower Merion Soccer Club travel program. He is also a volunteer counselor for Camp Can Do, a camp sponsored by the America Cancer Society, and is a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

Avi Rutstein

Vice President of Institutional Sales

Avi Rutstein has over 10 years of experience in the financial services industry as a trader, advisor and wholesaler. Mr. Rutstein joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc in 2006 and serves as Vice President of Institutional Sales. Mr. Rutstein is responsible for maintaining and cultivating advisor relationships in the Great Lakes region (PA, NY, OH, MI, IN, IL, WI, IA, MN, AK, HI).

Prior to joining CMG, Mr. Rutstein was a securities trader with Wheatley Capital Series Fund LLC, specializing in NASDAQ stocks. Earlier, he was a Financial Advisor with Metropolitan Life working with families and small businesses. Mr. Rutstein began his career at MarketVision, Inc. where he partnered in the launching of a direct marketing company.
Mr. Rutstein graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. He resides in Berwyn, Pennsylvania where he enjoys spending time with his wife and son. Mr. Rutstein holds a FINRA Series 65 license and Pennsylvania Life and Health Insurance.

Joe Yoon

Vice President of Institutional Sales

Joseph Yoon joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in 2012 where he is currently Vice President of Institutional Sales.  Mr. Yoon is responsible for maintaining and cultivating advisor relationships in the Northeast (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI) and Mid-Atlantic (NJ, DE, MD, DC, VA, WV, NC, SC) for CMG.  Mr. Yoon has over a dozen years of experience in both the retail and institutional segments of the financial services sector.

Prior to joining CMG, Mr. Yoon was a founding member that helped build a successful custody and brokerage platform with Ceros Financial Services (previously known as Rydex Financial Services).  Ceros grew to be a $5 billion dollar platform that catered to the fee-only and hybrid registered investment advisor community.  Earlier, he was a financial advisor with American Express Financial Advisors.  Mr. Yoon graduated from the Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.  He currently serves as a committee chair on their Second Decade Society board.

Mr. Yoon resides in Rockville, Maryland where he enjoys spending time with his wife and two doxies.   In his free time he enjoys photography, singing and playing poker.  Mr. Yoon holds FINRA Series 3, 7, 24, 53 and 66 licenses and Maryland Life & Health Insurance.

Thomas Hannafin

Internal Sales Associate

Tom Hannafin joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in May of 2012 and is currently an Internal Sales Associate. His primary responsibility is to generate and coordinate new sales opportunities for CMG’s external wholesalers.  Prior to Internal Sales, Mr. Hannafin was on the Client Relations Team and was responsible for opening all new accounts, processing day to day paperwork and maintaining client relationships. In 2006, Mr. Hannafin worked as an intern for CMG.

Prior to joining CMG full time, Mr. Hannafin worked as an assistant for various entertainment icons as well as working as a personal chef. Mr. Hannafin also has two years of experience working in the gas and oil industry. Outside of CMG, Mr. Hannafin has a passion for music; he is a talented musician and performs locally as a singer/songwriter. He is also involved in the local soccer community and coaches a youth team.

John Jaszczyszyn

Internal Sales Associate

John Jaszczyszyn joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in November of 2012 where he is currently acting as an Internal Sales Associate. His primary responsibility is to generate and coordinate new sales opportunities for CMG’s external wholesalers.  In 2004, Mr. Jaszczyszyn worked as an intern for CMG.

Prior to joining CMG as a full-time employee, Mr. Jaszczyszyn served as a Business Analyst at iPipeline. His responsibilities included gathering requirements from life insurance carriers in order to build electronic applications and managing client relationships. Before joining iPipeline, Mr. Jaszczyszyn was an Account Manager at Aon where his responsibilities included managing client relationships as well as being responsible for monitoring and analyzing profitability and preparing annual budgets.  Mr. Jaszczyszyn graduated from George Washington University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. He resides in Downingtown, Pennsylvania and enjoys playing soccer and golf.

Jack Forgosh

Investment Advisor Representative

Jack Forgosh joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in September 2008 as an Investment Advisor Representative. Mr. Forgosh works with CMG’s individual investors. He began his investment advisory career with Dean Witter Reynolds as a Registered Representative in 1987. Over the last 23 years, Mr. Forgosh has acted in various roles including financial advisor, career consultant and a health and wellness coach. Mr. Forgosh graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Forgosh is active in his local community and is an avid yoga instructor.  Mr. Forgosh holds a FINRA Series 65 license.

Elissa Magnavita

Marketing Coordinator

Elissa Magnavita joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in November, 2011 and currently serves as the firm’s Marketing Coordinator where she is responsible for all marketing initiatives including coordinating conferences, building the CMG brand and managing CMG’s social media and web presence. Ms. Magnavita previously served as a Client Services Representative.

Prior to joining CMG, Ms. Magnavita worked as a Marketing Assistant at Beasley Broadcasting Group, LLC. Ms. Magnavita graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2011 from West Chester University Honors College with a degree in Communication Studies and a minor in Spanish. She spent one semester studying abroad at an International University on the southern coast of Spain and traveling throughout Europe. Outside of CMG, Ms. Magnavita enjoys spending her time outdoors running, hiking and being at the beach.

Linda Cianci

Client Relations Manager

Linda Cianci joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in 1998. She currently runs the Client Relations Team and manages the internal administrative staff.  Ms. Cianci has extensive experience in client account management and customer service. She works directly with all CMG clients and advisors  as well as related custodians, mutual fund companies and institutional brokerage firms.  Prior to joining CMG, Ms. Cianci held key administrative positions with Apria Healthcare and Novacare.

Adam Agosti

Operations Associate

Adam Agosti joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in 2011 as Operations Associate after coming through the firm’s internship program in 2010-2011. As an Operations Associate, Mr. Agosti oversees daily trading and reconciliation of CMG portfolios and strategies.  Mr. Agosti graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Finance from La Salle University.

Magda Dobrowolska

Reconciliation Specialist

Magda Dobrowolska joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in 2006 as a Reconciliation Specialist. Her primary responsibilities include monthly and quarterly fee invoicing, accounting and trading. Prior to joining CMG, Ms. Dobrowolska was a Financial Analyst at SEI, a global provider of outsourced asset management services and investment processing solutions. She brings to CMG a broad international and financial/accounting experience from her work abroad for British and Danish Programs.  Ms. Dobrowolska has a MBA in Finance and Economics from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the Academy of Economics in Poznan, Poland. Ms. Dobrowolska is also fluent in Polish.

Alycia Newkirk

Client Services Representative

Alycia Newkirk joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in November of 2012 as a Client Services Representative. Ms. Newkirk supports both the administrative and operations teams, working directly with CMG clients and advisors on the new account process.

Most recently, Ms. Newkirk worked for Razor Technology as the Office Administrator. Ms. Newkirk has 13 years of experience in Administrative Services supporting high level executives and large sales teams. Ms. Newkirk graduated from Dobbins Vocational Technical School with a major in Business Education and completed the Temple University Real Estate Institute Program. In her time outside of CMG, Ms. Newkirk enjoys music, shopping and spending time with her children.

LaKeya Smith

Client Services Representative

LaKeya Smith joined CMG Capital Management Group, Inc. in April of 2009 as a Client Services Representative. Ms. Smith supports both the administrative and operations teams, working directly with CMG clients and advisors on the new account process.

Ms. Smith most recently worked as a Customer Service Representative for Touchstone Health, an HMO. Ms. Smith also has worked for the New York State Department of Housing and Department of Health in various client relations and customer service roles as well as an Administrative Assistant for the New York Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs. Ms. Smith attended Nyack College and holds an advanced Microsoft Office Certificate from the Holt Technical School. Ms. Smith enjoys reading, writing, music and spending time with her family.
